  • Entry fee of this race is Yen 8,000. It's too expensive and equivalent to that of Tokyo marathon race. Moreover, registration should be made on the previous day only! I had to go to Ohiso previous day.
  • Registration was made at Ohiso Prince Hotel. It's too far from Higashi-kurume!
  • The distance to the hotel is 2.9 km from Ninomiya Station of JR Tokaido Line. It took fully 30 minutes even I walked as quickly as possible.
  • After registration, I got the T-shirt at the booth. When returning, I found a long line of runners in front of the booth. I was lucky since I arrived there earlier.
  • When returning to Ninomiya Station, I came across many runners.

  • According to the weather forecast, it would be occasionally rainy on Sunday. I left home before 5:00 AM to get on the first train.
  • It glazed over and was dark. I took on the local train bound for Atami to be left at 6:07 AM. I could somehow sit down the seat.
  • I got up so early that I fell asleep for a while. When I waked up, I found the train was crowded with a lot of runners.
  • The train reached Ninomiya Station at 7:20 A> It took much time to get out of the station since the platform was so crowded.
  • A long line of runners continued from the station to Ohiso Prince Hotel.
  • As soon as I started to walk from the station, the rain started. I was getting depressed and unnerved owing to rainfall.
  • It had been raining heavily and lightly until the race started.
  • I arrived in the marathon site past 8:00 AM. A lot of runners were there. Some runners were already rushing to the start point.
  • I tried to find a shelter from the rain, but in vain. I changed the wears in the rain and deposited my bag. It was so hectic that I did not have a time to take jumbo rice ball, which I made in the morning. Also I could not apply Tiger Balm on my foot as a precautionary measure.
  • Then, I headed to the starting point. It's very far from the registration site.
  • Lots of runners were already making line on the narrow road. I could not reach the point (goal time: less than 3 hours 30 minutes). I remembered the crowded condition of Ohme Marathon Race.
  • Anyway, full marathon race started at 9:00 AM. 12,000 runners (Male: 10,000, female: 2,000) started to run. Fortunately the rain stopped.
  • Just in case, I wore the vinyl bag on the wears. I took off the bag on the way since I felt too warm. Generally speaking, the temperature during the race was good for marathon race.
  • It took more than 3 minutes to pass the starting line. UI think it took more than 10 minutes when the last runner passed the line.スタート地点を踏むのに3分以上掛かった。最後尾は10分以上掛かっているだろう。
  • The course consists of National Road No. 1 and No. 124. The turn-round point was short of Enoshima.
  • The course was so crowded with runners until 10 km point.
  • The course was flat and monotonous. The scenery was also monotonous. Most part of the course was between the pine trees. Furthermore, owing to bad weather, the scenery of sea was not so good.
  • Although the course was flat, when returning from the turn-round point, the course was gradual upward. it was considerably hard for me to run.
  • I felt it was too far until I arrived in the first turn-round point of 19.2 km.
  • When passing 20 km point, the rain re-started heavily, but it weakened shortly.
  • I could see many gal runners more than I expected and I enjoyed it.
  • The runners had to pass in front of Ohiso Prince Hotel to the turn-round point for the last 5 km-distance to the goal. It was so hard to run last 5 km. I felt it was so far away to the last turn-round point (39.2 km).
  • Anyway, I could stand and finally finished the race. The goal time was 4 hours 10 minutes. Since the training for this race was not enough, I would say I could run very well. I found that applying Tiger Balm did not affect the running time.
  • I joined the race by myself. I took on the free bus to Ohiso Port after changing wears. Since the time limit of this race was 6 hours, I could see a lot of runners were still running to the goal in the bus.
  • I could keep even running pace this time. I have not completed the race within for hours for a long time.
  • Anyway, it's to far from Higashi-kurume to Ohiso. And it costs too much since I had to visit Ohiso twice for the race. The loss of cost and time cannot be ignored. Do something!
