１）Ochiai/Kurome-River Jogging Course

• The course is made along the Ochiai/Kurome Rivers which flow amid the Higashi-kurume city. From the junction of the two rivers, distance markings are installed on the road every 500 meters. You can see ducks (Anas poecilorthyncha) and carps on/in the rivers thoughout the year. You can also see ohter ducks (Anas acuta, Anas crecca) in winter. The distance around the course from my house is 10km. The auther always runs this course once a week.




 

• There is an excellent cycling road along the Seibu Shinjuku Line and Tamako Line staring from Tanashi of Nishi-Tokyo city. A lot of green trees are there. In spring, cherry blossom is in full bloom some part of the road. You will soon arrive the entrance to the Koganei Park after starting from Tanashi city. From my house, you must run 5km southward to the Koganei Station, then you will join the cycling road. The round -trip to Tamako-Lake from my house is 25km. Distance markings are installed on the road every 100m.


 

• If you go down along the Kurome River from Higashi-kurume city to Niiza city, you will soon come across the Kanetu Expressway, then you will arrive in the Oizumi Central Park of Nerima-ku, Tokyo. Adjoing the Oizumi Park, there is a Wako-city Forest Park. In the park, a fine 1 km-jogging course is furnished. The distance from my house to the park is 10km. (Round trip is 20km) If I want to run more, I will run this jogging course in this park.


 

• The walkway along the Nobidome Ditch at the border of Higashi-kurume city and Kiyose city is also good for jogging. The water of the Nobidome ditch is not so clear, but a lot of carps swim there. Big trees are overgrown some part of the course, thus it is good to jog on sunny/hot day. The road leads to the Heirinji Temple in Niiza city.

• The course is the cycling road around the Tamako-Lake.The course is used for the Tamako-Lake Road Race held in May and December every year. The distance is 13km.
• The course is slightly up-and-down. It is easy to run. It is nice to run in spring under green leaves.
• The round trip from my house is 40km via Tamako-Lake Cycling Course although I have never tried as yet.


 

• The biggest park in Tokyo. You can run in the park freely without alerting the cars. Free entrance fee! A lot of people gather in cherry blossom season.


 

• Cycling course along the Nogawa River is also recommendable. Nogawa River flows thru Koganei city, Choufu city and Setagaya-ku, Tokyo. You can start from the JR Koganei station and go down , then you will pass the Musashino Park, Nogawa Park, then you will arrive in Jindaiji Temple and Jindai Plant Park.

• Shiki Highroad runs from north to south thru Kiyose city. The road is arranged both sidewalk and roadside trees. It is good for jogging. However, it is recommendable to jog early in the morning when the traffic is not heavy. You will reach Kiyose station of Seibu Ikebukuro Line via Zelkova Trees Road.




 

• Sidewalk is arranged alongside Karabori River and Yanase River (From Higashi-murayama city to Tokorozawa city & Kiyose city) Kumegawa station of Seibu Shinjuku Line is the starting point. When you reach Yanase River, you will soon arrive in Kanayama Green Park. The sidewalk of Karabori River starts near the Higashi-murayama filtration plant. I found that you can reach Tamako-lake Cycling course if you go up alongside Karabori River approx. 100m from the starting point. (August 20, 2000)




 

• Shin-Oume Highroad is almost straight road. Recommendable course is a section between Kodaira city, Tanashi and Hoya of Nishi-Tokyo city. Roadside trees are nice, especially, in Kodaira Memorial Park.(Right image) The weak point is heavy exhaust gas caused by heavy traffic. You had better jog in the very early morning!




 

• The course starts from Housui Brige (left side) and ends at Iruma Big Bridge (Kawagoe city). The distance is 22.8 km alongside Iruma River. You can reach Housui Bridge from Iruma city station of Seibu Ikebukuro Line (The distance is 1.5 km.) The road resembles Tama Cycling Road alongside Tama River. It is good for jogging.
