January 2003 - March 2003
7)Sunday March 30, 2003 Weather : Sunny occasionally cloudy
Jogging with new digital camera (Part II)
- Spring has come! Cherry blossoms started to come out.
- I jogged alongside Karabori/Yanase Rivers after a long interval with Nikon Coolpix digital camera.
- The cherry blossoms were not at best. Maybe at the next weekend, it would be in full bloom.
However, many people were already having Hanami (Flower-viewing) party under the cherry trees
at Hakusan Park (Higashi-kurume City) and Daida Social Welfare Housing Area (Kiyose-City).
- In addition, I could find many dogtooth violet flowers under the thicket of assorted trees in Kiyose City.
I could take several photos.
- The running distance of today was 21 km.

Jogging with new digital camera
- So far, I had owed only inexpensive digital cameras for my website.
However, I decided to buy more expensive digital camera. And finally, I bought
Nikon Coolpix 2500, 3x zoom digital camera with 2.0 effective magapixels !!
- According to the instructions manual, a lot of functions are equipped.
It may take some time to fully use the camera. I like 3x zoom lens and close-up
function.
- I took the camera when jogging today. The only demerit for me is bulky and heavy
for jogging. It is impossible to put into the pocket of T-shirt. I was forced to
put into the waist-porch.
- Anyway, I jogged with the camera to Tamako-Lake looking for flowers to be taken.
- It was warm and good for taking photos. I colud find Ume-flowers and daffodils.
- I could see some "Bamboo Partriges" in the Sayama Park for the first time.
I tried to take photos, but unfortunately, they went out into the bush shortly.
- I tried to run as slowly as possible. However, I felt exhausted and started to walk at the final stage of the jogging.
(The running distance : 30 km). Thus I was worrying about next full marathon race to be held on
March 23, 2003 since the condition of my throat is still not so good.
- I think the camera is very good. The following are some shots taken by Coolpix 2500.

5)Sunday February 16, 2003 Weather : Cloudy then rainy, Cold
Rehabilitation (Part II)
- As scheduled, I did not join Katsuta Full Marathon Race on February 11, 2003.
Even if I attended, I could not complete the race owing to insufficient training.
- I tried to run this weekend as usual.
- Yesterday, I ran to Tamako-Lake after a long interval. The tatal running distance was 30 km.
I could manage to complete, however, I felt pain on my foot after 20 km distance.
- The weather forecast on Sunday was rainy and the expected maximum temperature was only 6 degrees Centigrade. It's almost
mid-winter!
- However, it was not rainy at 8:30 AM and thus I went out to run.
- The intended running distance was 20 km. The course was alongside Nobidome Irrigation and Heirinji Temple.
- The cold rain started after I passed 10 km point. However, I continued to run.
- The rain was not so heavy and I could complete totally 20 km distance.
- I am glad that I could run 50 km on both Saturday and Sunday after almost one-and-half-a-month interval.
- By the way, I also started to try Japanese Sake at weekend! (although I am still taking medicines!)
4)Sunday February 9, 2003 Weather : Sunny/Warm
Rehabilitation
- For more than a month, I have been taking medicines to cure the bronchitis, but not cured completely as yet.
- As a result, I had no chance to run for more than 1 month.
However, it was a little bit warm yesterday and I decided to run 10 km as a rehabilitation.
But it was so hard to complete 10 km owing to lack of exercises.
- It was warmer today and I tried to run to Oizumi Central Park. (round-trip of 20 km)
- Estimated maximum temperature was 17 degrees. It was breezy and warm.
It was so nice to run under the clear sky after a long interval.
- Ume flowers start to be in bloom. The spring seems to be coming.
- There was no problem to run first 10 km, however, when coming back, it was so hard to run
back for 10 km. I was forced to walk a few times during the running.
Under the circumstances, it is impossible to complete the full marathon race now.
- I was shocked to learn that the only one month blank had caused such a difficulity.
I have to recover as soon as possible to train as usual.
- To my regret, I have to withdraw my entry to Katsuta Full Matathon Race to be held on Februay 11, 2003.
3)Sunday January 26, 2003
Giving up Wakashio Marathon Race!!
- I have been suffering from cold. I still have a cough.
- Although I have taken medicines given by the doctor, I am not cured. I doubted that I got bronchitis.
- Thus I visted the doctor again yesterday and explained the symptom.
I had an X ray examination and diagonosed that there was no problem, which I was relived.
- I got different medicines this time. I wish I will be recovered shortly.
- Under the circumstances, I did not have a chance to run since January 3, 2003.
- Today is the day of Wakashio Marathon Race. I have to give up.
- I had a plan to have delicious 'Sashimi" and Japanese Sake with my running mates at the pension in Tateyama City
on Sataurday, however, to my regret, I could not carry out.
- Anyway, all I have to do now is to cure the disease. However, this is my first experience to have a cold such a long period.
2)Sunday January 12, 2003 Weather:Sunny
Carelessly catching a cold !
- I should have joined "Ms Tanigawa Half Marathon Race" today. However, unfortunately, I had caught a cold and were forced to
give up the race.
- It was very regrettable since it was sunny and warm and good for race.
- Although I had been very careful not to catch a cold ------.
- On January 4, 2003, my junior son had a high fever with cold and I seemed to have his cold.
- I continued to take a medicine on the market, but it was not effective. I had to be day-off and go to the doctor
to get the appropriate medicines.
- I was day-off the company owing to cold after more than 10 years intervals.
- Thus I could run only three times so far in 2003!
- I have to refrain from running/drinking during three consecutive holidays (from January 11 to 13).
- It is true that one can understand the value of good health only when he gets sick.
1)Wednesday January 1, 2003 to Friday January 3, 2003

returning to my parents' home. The unit price was Yen 100, a little bit expensive, but it was delicious.

- On the previous day, I took on the Super Express, Hikari, at 13:22 from Okayama station.
I arrived in my home around 18:30. It was cold in Okayama, but Higashi-kurume was also freezing.
- The weatherman said it would be snowing in the afternoon. Thus I left home around 10:00 AM to jog.
First, I visited Hikawa Shrine.
- Then I went to Ohizumi Central Park. When coming back, it started to snow!
