Records & Impression

• I first joined this race 3 years ago and this is my second participation.
• The weather forecast was not good since the weatherman said it would be rainy in the afternoon.
• I left the home at 7:00 AM. The sky was covered with thick cloud.
• On the train of the JR Joban Line, when approaching to Kashiwa Station, I could see the people in the town putting up the umbrellas. Oh my God!
• When arriving in Kashiwa-station, it really rained, but it was a drizzle. I did not need to have an umbrella up.
• It took more than 20 minutes to reach the Furusato Park although the brochure says it takes 15 minutes. A lot of runners were walking toward the Park.
• I arrived in the park before 9:00 AM. The park was so crowded that it was very difficult to find the running mates there. Fortunately, I could come across my running-mates in front of the registration site.
• When I tried to change the wears, suddenly, it started to shower! (around 9:30 AM) I felt so bad since I thought I would have to run in the rain.
• However, to my relief, the rain stopped before the start.
• It was announced that 7,600 runners joined this year. The narrow staring point was extremely crowded with runners.
• The runners had to line up according to the runner's number. My number was [3749], which was almost in the middle of the line.
• The race started by the big sound of fireworks at 10:00 AM. The temperture was neither hot nor cold. It's best for running!
• It took 3 minutes to pass the starting line.
• The course was completely the same as that of 3 years ago.
• First, the runners had to run 9 km in the northern side of the Teganuma Swamp (To turn back at 4.5 km point) and come back to the staring point. (Split time at 5 km: 30 minutes)
• After passing the starting point, they had to run in the southern side of the Swamp (Split time at 10 km: 56 minutes)
• I had a difficult time after passing 10 km. That is, I had a desire to make water. However, there was no place to do since all I could see around there was rice fields! (Actually, there were some provisional toilets at several points.)
• From 14 km to 16 km, the course became a round trip to the Nishogakusha University, which was a narrow and up-and-down course. The road was very crowded with runners.
• During the last 1 km, the course was unpaved with gravel road on the bank and thus it was hard to run fast. However, I tried my best to dash to the goal.
• I passed a lot of runners, however, the goal time was not good as I expected. (1 hour 54 minutes 05 seconds: GROSS) Maybe, due to the fact that I slowed down between 18 km and 19 km. (Net time: 1 hour 51 minutes) This time, I did not feel get tired after goal.
• After the race, I had a drink party with my running mates. It's really a fun to drink with friends. It's much better to join the race with friends.
• When taking a train to go home, it was raining heavily. It's lucky that it did not rain during the race.
• By the way, more ladies and gals join this race in comparison with other races. Gentlemen! Let's join this race every year!
• After the race, I saw a lot of runners were standing in a line. I wondered what it was. Soon, I found that the line consisted of the runners who had deposited their valued items and had to collect it. The line was getting longer since more runners were reaching the goal. It seems that it took more than 30 minutes to pick up the item. It's a waste of time to deposit the items there.
• The congestion at the starting point is also terrible. I think some counter-measuremant should be taken next time.
