- I joined the race after an interval of 9 months since Kasumigaura Marathon Race in April 2004.
- Owing to the injury of my right leg, I could not run almost half a year.
- My right leg does not recover completely. This race is the race during the rehabilitation.
- According to the weather forecast, the winter atomospheric pattern will continue during three
consecutive holidays.
- The north strong wind blew on Saturday and it was very cold. I could remember the cold weather of last year on the race day.
- I left home around 7:20 in the morning. It was fine and the temerature was minus 3 degrees Centigrade,
the coldest weather in this winter.
- I arrived in Akabane Station at 8:10 AM. I followed the runners to the marathon site on foot.
- However, just before reaching the site, the sidewalk jammed owing to many runners and signal.
It took almost 30 minutes to the site.
- I could meet my running mate in front of the reception at 9:00 AM. I prepared for start after changing the wears.
- It was breezy this year. However, the temperature at 9:00 was 4 degrees Centigrade.
- Theis year, the starting times of male and female were divided. The starting time of female was 10:00 AM and that of male was 10:10.
- The total number of runners for half marathon race was around 8,300. (Male:6,800, female:1,500)
- I could not hear the signal gun since I was almost at the end of the lines.
It took 4 minutes 50 seconds to pass the starting line.
- My target of this race was to complete the race and thus I ran at my own pace.
- However, during a few kilometers from the start, it was so crowded that I could not keep my own
pace.
- I was trod my running shoes continuously three times by the rear runner and thus
I was almost tumbled. Be careful when running under the crowded condition!
- I happened to come across my running mate, Mr. F, who was running the opossite side for his training around 3-km point.
He called my name and passed over. I was surprised to see him since I never expected to meet him.
- It was breezy during the race and thus I sweated by the end of the race since I wore long-sleeve shirt.
- At the 7-km point, the top female runner ran away with high speed at the opossite side.
- Soon I could see Ms. Mari Tanigawa also ran away. I could not see Ms. Rie Hasegawa.
- I passed the 10-km point after 1 hour 01 minutes. I turned around after 1 hours 05 minutres.
- I could not speed up this time since lately I ran very slow pace when training.
- I tried to speed up after 13-km point, however, I soon felt tired.
- My goal time was 2 hours 05 minutes.
- Since the females started 10 minutes in advance this year, to my regret, I could not catch up with almost all of them.
I could not enjoy running with young gals this year!
- After the goal, I drank canned beer with my running mate. Then we tried to drink Japanese sake to warm up. However, suddenly, the
strong north wind started to blow.
- It was so cold and we could not stand. We decided to leave there and go to the restaurant
where the daring mother operates near Akabane Station. (The same restaurant we went last year)
- The restaurant was prosperous and crowded. We managed to find the seats.
We refreshed very much after drinking hot Japanese sake. The mother said she could remember us, however, we were doutful.
- Anyway, I felt good and returned home around 3:30 PM and immediately went to bed for taking a nap.
