Running Record & Impression
- Last year, I was told by the doctor not to run owing to painful left knee.
Thus I was forced to stop running after this race until February 1999.
I had to cancel all races registered during the period.
I could only walk, walk, walk! However, I was not satisfied with only walkings.
- It was a leaden sky this morning as weather man said. It was also a little bit cold.
- I left home at 7:30 AM and arrived in the Seibu Dome station around 8:00 AM.
The automatic exits were so crowded by runners and it took much time to pass.
I thought extra exits should have been opened since a lot of passengers were getting off.
- Runners could use the seats of the stadium. However, only the third-base side
of the stadium were available. Thus it was so crowded. Numbers of toilets were
also limited!
- This year, the race started and finshed in the Seibu Dome (The roof was completed in March 1999.)
Thus even if the weather is bad, the runners do not worry about wetting.
- The 10 km race started at 10:00 AM. Runners made line at the exit of the dome.
Electric display above the exit showed the countdown for 10 seconds to the start.
- Immediately after the start, everybody had to run slowly (It took 45 seconds to reach the start point.).
They rushed to run from the start point. I was forced to follow them.
- This time, I tried to run as fast as possible from the beginning.
- I do not remember about the condition of the previous course. However,
the course was considerably up-and-down in the first half.
- I thought that I reached 5 km point in a short time. However, actually it took
25min. 45sec.(Not so fast as expected!)
- Water supply point was set 6.5km from the start. I decided to speed up from there.
- Then I could pass the other runners little by little.
- I desperately continued to run as fast as possible although I breathed with difficulity
for the last 1km.
- I thought I could reach the goal as soon as I entered the Seibu Dome.
However, contrary to my expectation, I had to run the 3/4 round of the ground to
the goal. Anyway, I tried to my best. I felt as if I ran on the cushion while I was running on the artificial
grass.
- The time was 48min. 07sec. It was a good record for me after a long time.
- The winner's record was 30min. 40sec. The winner's record of more than forties was 33min.
How fast they are!
- Apple cider was given to the runners after the goal. I drunk it for the
first time and I though the taste was good. If you have not drunk it so far,
please try. You must feel good!
- Gifts to the runner were T-shirt, automatic-pencil and Jog Mate Protein (supplemental nutrition).
- After the closing ceremony, a lottery was held and prizes were given to
the winners. However, I could not wait until then and left the dome.
- It was 10:00 AM when the 10km race finished. Therefore, I went to the
Kinjouin Temple located very close to the Seibu Dome and took pictures.
- When I came home, it was 11:30 AM.
- The location of this race is the closest for me. Thus I am sure that I will join the race next year.
Is there anyone who joins the race next year? It is fun to run with friends
rather than join by oneself.
