Impression
- Scratches at Tsukuba marathon race finally cured excepting the slight pain on my right shoulder.
- I could not run for a while. I tried to run long distance on Friday.
I managed to run 25 km.
- I could run 10 km on Saturday and thus I decided to join Sano marathon race on Sunday.
- This time, I could run with my running mates after a long interval.
- The weatherman said it would be cold weekend. I left home around 5:00 AM.
Cold north wind was blowing.
- I arrived in Sano Station around 8:00 AM via Seibu, Musashino and Tobu Line.
I could get seated and sleep for a while and I felt a little bit slack
when reaching Sano Station.
- In front of the station, four buses including one micro bus were parking.
Runners seemed to increase year by year.
- I could get on the 3rd micro-bus. It took 15 minutes to reach the marathon site.
- It was fine and breeze. It was not so cold as expected.
- I registered at gymnasium and met with my three running mates (two were ladies!) there.
- Full marathon race would start at 10:00 AM. I was positioning at the end of the line this time.
- It was not cold when started. The loss time was almost one minute since runners were not so many.
- The course was completely the same as that of last year.
According the weather forecast, it would be cold. Therefore, I dressed layers of long-sleeve T-shirt and
short-sleeve T-shirt. However, while running, it was not cold. Wearing only short-sleeve T-shirt
might be desirable. I sweated a bit immediately after start.
- I could pass both 5 km and 10 km point by the same pace as I did last year. Cold wind was blowing, but it was
comfortable for me while running.
- I could pass one lady running mate just before 15 km point.
- I could run 20 km as usual. After passing 20 km point, the upward slope to the tunnel began.
I managed to run up the slope and passed the tunnel. After passing the tunnel, the course
was downward.
- Soon the flat and monotonous course continued. I continued to run and passed 25 km point.
Then I reached the point where the upward slope started.
- At that point, I found a privately operated aid station. I could get one big pickled plum
and small rice ball. Thus I could run up the slope anyway.
- After re-passing the tunnel, 30 km point appeared. Just 3 hours passed.
- I was getting tired and my running speed started slow down. Other runners passed me.
I had a hard time to reach 35 km point. I felt 35 km point far away.
- When I was running around 35 km point, it was warm and no wind.
Therefore, I frequently felt thirsty.
- I drank a lot of water at aid station, but it was not enough.
I drank up the water in my waist porch and I was forced to buy a bottle of water at
vending machine on the roadside.
- Finally I could reach 5 km point to the finish. I found my lady running mate passed me there.
But I had no energy to catch up with her.
- During the last 5 km, I repeated walk and run while drinking a bottle of water.
- When I reach 2 km to the finish, I could not continue to run.
- Since I was still haunted by nightmares of falling just before the finish, I ran slowly and in
a careful manner to the finish.
- The finish time was 4 hours 33 minutes. I was satisfied with the result since
my target was 5 hours.
- My running mates came from Kuki City and thus we decided to have a drink party at Kuki.
- We could catch up with 15:30 shuttle bus and arrived in Kuki Station past 17:00.
- We entered into Japanese pub in front of the station and had a gorgeous party.
It was nice to join the race with running mates.
- After the party, I got on the 19:44 train from Kuki Station.
I could get home around 21:30. I was exhausted!
- The giveaway was waist porch this time. It would be very useful.
